Daughter of Ashok Kumar, Bharti Jaffery passes away after a prolonged illness

On Tuesday, actor Kanwaljit Singh took to his social media handle and confirmed the news of his mother-in-law Bharti Jaffery’s demise. For the unversed, Bharti Jaffery was the daughter of legendary cinema actor Ashok Kumar. She died after a prolonged illness.

Along with some unseen photos of Bharti, Kanwaljit wrote a caption that read, “Our beloved *Bharat jaffrey*, Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grand mother, Aunt, Neighbhour, Friend and inspiration has departed us today 20 Sep. We will bring her home at 1.30 pm today for her final goodbye at 403 Ashok Kumar Towers, 47 Union Park, Chembur 71, and thereafter cremate her at Cherai Crematorium, Chembur Camp.” Many from Singh’s followers flooded the comments section with prayers for the late actor.

Meanwhile, Nandita Puri told ETimes, “Bharti Jaffrey was a vivacious and warm person and everyone will miss this affection and warmth. Though Anuradha (Patel) and Kanwaljit (Singh) are family friends, Bharti di endeared us to her by her thoughtful gestures. She never forgot to wish me every birthday. Or pick up a souvenir from her trips. I will miss her very much. And not forgetting she was an extremely talented actress.”

According to a report by PTI, cause of death and age could not be immediately confirmed. Jaffery was well known for her performances in Kalpana Lajmi’s 2001 release, Daman: A Victim of Marital Violence starring Raveena Tandon and director Jayoo’s Devi Ahilya Bai.
