Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre is a bundle of inspiration. From running a well-known book club, sharing motivational articles, to giving expert fashion advice like a pro, the actress has carved a way into the hearts of audiences and fans. More than anything else, the actress received immense love and support from her fans during her battle with cancer back in 2018. The actress recently revisited that time with Bollywood Hungama and talked about getting media attention during her tough time.
As in her latest project called The Broken News, Bendre essayed the character of a news anchor; she was asked to share her opinion on how media focuses on the sensational part of a celebrity’s health condition. While referring to her cancer battle, the actress said, “I feel where I’m concerned, I found a lot of empathy from everybody, and that includes the media. I just got a lot of love.”
Elaborating further, the Sarfarosh actress went on to say, “I’ve had a career which has been spanned so many years. So most definitely, there have been times when [the] media has been upset with me”. She then shared, “I think my illness was the time where most of the media really came behind me.”
Explaining her understanding behind the same, Sonali mentioned, “that could be because social media was so much out there and somewhere my voice was going directly to the people or it was going directly, while adding, “it was not coloured by anybody else’s vision of it and maybe that helped it but during that period”.
Talking about The Broken News, it is a ZEE5 original series of eight episodes. Along with Sonali, Jaideep Ahlawat and Shriya Pilgaonkar are also seen in pivotal roles.
